Your Right to Erasure under UK GDPR

Under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR), you have the Right to Erasure (also known as the "right to be forgotten"). This page allows you to request deletion of your personal data from XTaxi24's systems.

What Happens When You Request Deletion?

When you submit a data deletion request, we will:

Permanently delete your account (customer or driver)
Remove your personal information from our active systems
Delete your ride history and location data
Remove your payment information (stored with Stripe)
Unsubscribe you from all marketing communications
Process your request within 30 days

⚠️ Important - Data We Must Retain

UK law requires us to keep certain records for 7 years for tax and accounting purposes (HMRC requirement). This includes:

Transaction records and invoices
Payment history (amounts, dates)
Business records required for VAT/tax compliance

These records will be anonymized (your name and contact details removed, but transaction data retained for legal compliance).

When We Cannot Delete Your Data

We may not be able to fully delete your data if:

You have outstanding payments or disputes
Your data is required for ongoing legal proceedings
Law enforcement has requested data retention
We have a legal obligation to retain certain records

If any exceptions apply, we'll contact you within 30 days to explain.

Alternatives to Full Deletion

Don't want to delete everything? Consider these options:

Deactivate Account: Temporarily suspend your account without deleting data
Update Privacy Settings: Limit data collection and marketing
Restrict Processing: Keep your account but pause data processing
Data Portability: Download your data without deleting it

What Happens Next?

Verification (1-2 days) - We'll verify your identity via email or phone
Review (5-7 days) - We'll check for any legal obligations that prevent deletion
Deletion (within 30 days) - Your data will be permanently deleted
Confirmation - You'll receive email confirmation once complete
